MAN DROVE ONTO THE ATLANTIC HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETIC FIELD DURING A TRACK MEET ON FRIDAY IN DELRAY BEACH. 43 YEAR-OLD SIMPSON CASILLAS WAS ARRESTED AND IS NOW FACING MANY CHARGES, ONE OF THEM BEING A DUI. AND YOU CAN SEE BEHIND ME THAT THE FENCE IS DOWN AND THAT THERE’S RED TAPE ALL AROUND IT, AND IT LOOKS LIKE THE CRASH NEVER DIDN’T REALLY HAPPEN EXACTLY ON THE TRACK, BUT IT DID HAPPEN DURING THEIR TRACK MEET, WHICH WAS HOSTED BY THE SCHOOL FRIDAY NIGHT, WHICH LED IT TO BE TO BEING CANCELED WITH THE SCHOOL POLICE. HE IS FACING FELONY CHARGES OF CRIMINAL MISCHIEF OF A $1,000 OR MORE TRESPASSING ON SCHOOL GROUNDS, RECKLESS DRIVING AND DRIVING WHILE LICENSE. WHILE THE LICENSE WAS SUSPENDED WITH THE CITY. CASILLAS WAS CITED FOR DUI, REFUSAL TO SUBMIT A TEST, AND REFUSAL TO SIGN A CITATION. PRINCIPAL SANDRA EDWARDS SAID IN A STATEMENT, QUOTE, THE SAFETY OF OUR STUDENTS AND STAFF IS ALWAYS OUR TOP PRIORITY. FAMILIES, ALL STUDENTS AND STAFF ARE SAFE. THERE WERE NO REPORTED INJURIES. DELRAY BEACH POLICE CONFIRMED CASAS WAS BOOKED INTO THE PALM BEACH COUNTY JAIL LATE LAST NIGHT. One person died and another was hospitalized when the pedestrians were struck by a freight train Saturday night in West Palm Beach. Police responded to the incident along the 500 block of Monroe Drive around 6:20 p.m. The incident was west of U.S. 1 and north of Southern Boulevard, now called President Donald J. Trump Boulevard.The incident occurred on Florida East Coast tracks used by freight and Brightline trains. It was just south of Brightline’s West Palm Beach train station.Upon arrival, officers located an individual near the train tracks, who was pronounced deceased at the scene. A second person was taken to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.A Brightline train had stopped in the area as the tracks were cleared.The investigation is ongoing.
