Windham Tech hangs on to defeat Amistad, faces St. Paul Catholic Monday

On to the next one for the No.6  Windham Tech Tigers.

A year after suffering a first-round exit to Career Magnet, the Windham Tech Tigers boys’ basketball team didn’t let another team end their season on their home floor.

Facing the Amistad Wolves, Windham Tech held on to win 72-60 to advance to the second round of the Division IV State Tournament.

While Winjam Tech was in complete control of the game, leading 62-42 with 4:16 left to play, they cruised without a sweat.

With Amistad roaring back on an 18-6 run, they trimmed the lead to eight, giving themselves a sliver of hope.

Despite Winjam Tech giving Amistad life, the Wolves ultimately woke up too late.

Windham Tech knocked free throws to send the game to rest and send Amistad home.

Windham Tech will host the St. Paul Falcons on Monday at 6:00 p.m. St. Paul cruised past Suffield 75-50 on Friday night.
