The Shawsheen Tech boys hockey team improved its overall record to 20-2-1 on Saturday with a 4-0 victory over Danvers in the second round of the Div. 3 state tournament.
The victory advanced the Rams to the Div. 3 state quarterfinals where they were set to face Norwood on Wednesday in Billerica at the Chelmsford Forum.
Norwood, the 13th seed, beat Bishop Stang by a 4-1 score to start the playoffs and then upset fourth-seeded Pembroke, 3-1.
The fifth seeded Rams blew out Watertown by a 7-1 score to start the tournament before defeating Danvers, 4-0.
In the Watertown win, Shawsheen had five multiple-point scorers and seven different players score goals.
Justin Thibert had a goal and three assists, Jacoby Patterson had a goal and two assists and Charlie Shannon handed out three assists.
Both Josh Baker and Justin Harrington added a goal and an assist.
Jake Banda, Jake Carr and Dylan Minasian also added goals.
Chipping in with assists was Cam Banda and Brayden Johnson.
Goalie Dylan Mainini had 12 saves for Shawsheen.
Mainini had 16 saves in his shutout win against Danvers.
Just before the MIAA playoffs, Shawsheen won the state’s vocational title in convincing fashion with an 8-0 shellacking of Blackstone Valley Tech.
Mainini made 12 more saves in another shutout while Thibert erupted for three goals and three assists in the championship triumph.
Baker had a goal and three assists, Patterson and Minasian each added a goal and two assists, Harrington had a goal and an assist and Kyle Mackeen contributed two assists.
Wyatt Batchelor had the other goal for the Rams while Jake Banda and Eric Banda also picked up assists.
Baker, Harrington, Mackeen and Patterson were the goal scorers against Danvers.
