Ribbon cut on new centre of excellence with 100 tech jobs for Cork

The ribbon was cut on a new Digital Centre of Excellence in the city this morning as Acuity marks its next phase of investment in Cork.

The industrial tech company will create more than 100 jobs in Cork over the next three years, including highly-skilled software engineering roles. The Cork office will serve as the Atlanta-based company’s global hub for software innovation and data‑forward engineering – a huge vote of confidence in the Cork and Irish tech sector.

The Centre of Excellence was announced back in September, with recruiting for Cork-based staff to work on cutting-edge innovation, research and design beginning. The Site Lead said it will be “more than a workplace” for the highly skilled staff there, and Acuity will maintain strong relationships with local universities to build an education-to-employment talent pipeline.

Acuity is an industrial technology company specialising in lighting, lighting controls, building management, and an audio, video and control platform. The US firm has operations across North America, Europe and Asia, employing over 10,000 people globally.

Today’s ribbon-cutting ceremony at Acuity’s Penrose Two office was also attended by partners from UCC, MTU, the Cork Chamber, and broader regional stakeholders who play an integral role in cultivating Ireland’s world‑class innovation ecosystem.

Kevin O’Riordan, Site Lead, said: “Our Digital Centre of Excellence in Cork brings together the best of Acuity’s technologies, serving as a hub for research and development to build innovative software solutions. Our Digital Centre of Excellence in Cork is more than a workplace – it’s a hub for innovation, collaboration, and growth. We’re building a team of disruptive thinkers, data-forward engineers, and product innovators who are helping to shape the future of our technology.
