Goodwill Industries of Michiana celebrate graduates of automotive academy class

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) – Goodwill Industries of Michiana celebrated graduates from its automotive academy program Friday at the organization’s Bendix Campus on Kenwood Avenue in South Bend.

The program is designed to give individuals with no automotive experience the opportunity to receive free training for careers in the automotive industry in St. Joseph County.

All graduates were guaranteed an interview with Gurley Leep Automotive, one of the region’s automotive employers.

“We been doing this now for a few years. And so, we had 108 individuals enrolled. And we do a partnership with Gurley Leep,” said Debie Cobie, president and CEO of Goodwill Industries of Michiana. “And so far since the program began, they hired 16 of our graduates to work in their automotive world.”

The program is open to anyone interested in the automotive industry.
