Galgotias University was asked to vacate its stall at the AI Summit in Delhi after a robotic dog displayed at its booth as an ‘in-house innovation’ was identified as a commercially available Chinese product, government sources said. The robot showcased by the Galgotias University as ‘Orion’ was recognised by observers as the ‘Unitree Go2‘ made by Chinese robotics firm Unitree. The AI-powered Chinese robot dog that has now grabbed attention is not a new innovation.

According to reports, the Unitree Go2, developed by Chinese robotics company Unitree Robotics, has been available in the global market since
2023.

The robotic dog displayed at the University’s stall has been identified as ‘Unitree Go2’, a commercially available quadruped robot sold in India for about Rs 2–3 lakh. The Unitree Go2 robot dog (Air, Pro, and EDU versions) is available for purchase in India through specialized robotics and drone distributors. Unitree Robotics officially launched the Unitree Go2 on July 12, 2023. The company introduced it as a second-generation consumer-grade quadruped robot, following the earlier Go1 model released in 2021. The company positioned the Go2 as a smarter and more cost-effective robotic dog, tailored for research, educational purposes, and advanced consumer applications.
