New Delhi, Feb 18 (UNI) Amid rising excitement around artificial intelligence, the India AI Impact Summit 2026 in New Delhi is showcasing how AI is rapidly transitioning from policy discussions to practical, real-world applications.

Across healthcare, energy, and retail, companies are highlighting innovations designed to transform everyday experiences through intelligent systems.

Riding this wave of AI-led transformation, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) unveiled an advanced virtual trial solution aimed at redefining fashion retail in India.

Part of its vision for the “experience store of the future,” Global IT major TCS introduced the technology that presents a solution to eliminate the need for physical trial rooms. Customers simply stand in front of a virtual screen, where a photograph is captured with their consent.

Using computer vision, the system allows users to virtually try on any outfit available in the store. It instantly maps the chosen garment onto the customer’s image and recommends the best fit based on body measurements derived from the photograph.

The platform also provides automated styling suggestions and can transform the image into themed visuals inspired by Indian art styles.

During a live demonstration, shoppers selected outfits while the system analysed their body type to generate realistic previews. The platform displayed side-by-side comparisons of the original image and the AI-generated look, offering personalized recommendations in real time.

During the demo, users were asked to select an outfit, following which the system analysed their body type and size to generate a realistic preview of how the selected garment would look on them.

The platform displayed a comparison between the user’s original image and the AI-generated look featuring the chosen jacket.

The technology also offered automated styling suggestions based on the user’s profile.

In an additional feature, users could transform their image into themed visual formats inspired by Indian art styles.

The AI-based solution aims to enhance the retail experience by enabling virtual try-ons, reducing uncertainty in online shopping, and providing customised fashion recommendations.

While speaking with UNI, Rolly Sitani, Expo delegate of TCS, said the platform delivers an immediate and seamless virtual trial experience.

Sitani said it aims to bring a global retail experience to India and expects the innovation to significantly reshape the country’s fashion retail landscape.

When UNI asked about the privacy of photographs being collected, TCS official Rolly Sitani said strict data protection measures have been put in place.

She said “Photographs are taken only after explicit user consent, and all data collected remains with the retailer.”

She added that no data is used for any other purpose without the customer’s approval.

The initiative marks a step forward in integrating advanced AI and computer vision technologies into mainstream retail, offering greater convenience, personalization and enhanced customer engagement.
