Holmes powers Orange past Technology – Girls basketball recap

Orange used a dominant second half to secure a 42-29 victory over Technology in Newark.

Neveah Holmes led all scorers with 19 points, including two 3-pointers and 5-for-7 shooting from the free-throw line. Holmes also contributed 4 rebounds and 5 steals in a stellar all-around performance for Orange (12-10).

Phoenix Fraser added 13 points, including three 3-pointers, along with 4 assists and 2 blocks to help Orange secure the win.

Technology (8-15) started strong, leading 9-7 after the first quarter and maintaining a slim 21-18 advantage at halftime. However, Orange completely turned the game around in the third quarter, outscoring Technology 13-2 to take control.

Orange recorded 17 steals overall, with Holmes, Ryhan Mansook, and Kayla McPherson combining for 13 of those takeaways.

Inside the paint, Orange dominated the rebounding battle with Ashley Mathurin pulling down 12 rebounds and Soukeinatou Sacko adding 10 boards to go with her 7 points.

Orange travels to face North Hunterdon at 6 p.m. on Feb. 18.
