National Automotive Group celebrates 50 years in Onslow County

ONSLOW COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) – The National Automotive Group celebrated 50 years of serving Onslow County on Friday.

A gathering was held at the dealership, where guests ate food, enjoyed live music, and engaged in giveaways.

On Feb. 13, 1976, Jim Moore founded National Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram, where Harry Brown has served as dealership principal since 1986. Harry says his son, Ryan Brown, will eventually fill in the role.

The dealership originally opened in the county, but at a different location. Over time, more franchises were added, such as Volkswagen and Subaru.

No matter the location, the dedication to serving the community has remained. However, the economy has impacted the dealership in many ways over the years.

“The economy is always going to affect us one way or the other because it affects people and their purchasing habits, our military with furloughs, and things of that nature,” said Ryan Brown, director of operations. “It is concerning, but we’re going to weather the storm.”

The team says the half-century milestone brings them gratitude and hope for their future.

“We are proud of our history and excited about the road ahead,” General Manager Robbie Yates said. “We look forward to continuing to serve this community for many years to come.”
