Manchester-Boston Regional Airport sees passenger growth, record-breaking cargo volumes in 2025

After years of declining passenger numbers, 2025 told a different story at Manchester-Boston Regional Airport. According to airport data, more than 1.38 million people flew in and out of MHT, the highest total since 2019 and nearly a 9% increase from 2024. “The more flying we do, the more flying we get. So in other words, the more the community comes out and supports the service that we have, the more the airlines will invest in this market,” said Tom Malafronte, aviation director at MHT. The airport credited new carriers added in recent years. Just last week, Breeze launched a direct flight from Manchester to Myrtle Beach. While passenger numbers are up, travelers said they enjoy flying from Manchester because of smaller crowds. Standard TSA wait times typically range from 0 to 5 minutes. “Manchester is so much easier than Boston. Like driving an hour, getting down there, traffic,” said Shari Woods of Manchester. >> Download the free WMUR app to get updates on the go <<“You don’t have to worry about going into the city or even to get here. It’s nice how they have the road coming right into the airport where you don’t have to deal with all the traffic and stuff,” added Tammi Hedges of Burlington, Vermont. MHT also had a record-breaking year for cargo, processing nearly 240 million pounds in 2025, over 4 million pounds more than the previous record. That volume made MHT the third-largest cargo airport in New England. “So the more businesses that come to this area, the more people that use e-commerce and the more cargo will grow,” Malafronte said.UPS handled 50% of the cargo, Amazon Air 30%, and FedEx the rest. A new destination announcement for an existing carrier is expected Thursday morning.”I can tell you, it’s one that the community has asked for for a long time,” Malafronte said.
