Somerset Tech held off a determined College Achieve Central team for a 55-53 victory in North Plainfield.
Nathanael White led the way for Somerset Tech with 17 points, seven rebounds, and 11 assists in a stellar all-around performance. Lundyn Robertson added 14 points and eight rebounds for the Jaguars (8-15).
The Jaguars jumped out to an early lead, outscoring College Achieve Central (2-15) 15-6 in the first quarter. The Panthers responded in the second quarter, putting up 19 points to Somerset Tech’s 15, cutting the deficit to five points at halftime.
College Achieve Central continued their comeback in the third quarter, outscoring the Jaguars 13-9 to narrow the gap further. However, Somerset Tech managed to maintain a slim advantage in the fourth quarter, with both teams scoring 15 and 16 points respectively.
Mithun Chigurupati contributed 10 points and two steals for Somerset Tech, while David Yacka pulled down seven rebounds to go with his five points. Jayden Romero added seven points, three rebounds, and two steals in the victory.
The Jaguars’ 27 total rebounds and 11 assists, all from White, proved crucial in securing the narrow two-point win.
