Lufthansa Cargo has begun scheduled weekly Airbus A321-200 passenger to freighter (P2F) flights to Rome Fiumicino Airport (FCO).

The cargo division of Lufthansa introduced a A321P2F flight between Frankfurt (FRA) and FCO in November to help manage peak season volumes.

Then in January, Lufthansa Cargo announced that from 7 February, FRA to FCO flights would operate once a week on Saturdays, with flight number LH8344.

Now, the weekly A321P2F connection from FRA to FCO has “officially completed its first scheduled arrival”, said Lufthansa Cargo in a LinkedIn post on 10 February.

The airline, which added Rome as its fifth hub in May 2025, added: “After successfully adding extra A321F capacity during the December peak season, we’re proud to continue offering a weekly freighter frequency into Italy’s capital, strengthening our connections to the world via Rome and empowering our customers with even more flexibility.

“Last weekend, flight LH8344 left Frankfurt at 06:56 AM (LT) and landed ahead of schedule at 08:29 AM (LT) at Aeroporti di Roma.”

Lufthansa Cargo, which finalised its acquisition of a 41% stake in ITA Airways in January 2025, said the FRA-FCO route and its partnership with ITA enables fast access to South America.

From FCO, flights connect with ITA flights to Buenos Aires, Guarulhos, or Rio de Janeiro.
