Last week, Audi announced a handful of tech upgrades and the slow return of physical controls to its electric A6 e-tron sedan. This week, it is announcing that 2026 A6 models with gas engines will get the same updates. And in a bit of news we don’t often see, Audi isn’t raising the price for the new year. The mid-year changes to the 2026 Audi A6 hold the line starting from $64,100.
The Virtual Cockpit Map Is Back
Audi describes the changes to its system as “an optimized infotainment experience.” It’s a brand-new user interface that focuses on being more user-friendly. The center touch screen has fewer lists and more pictures, to start the experience changes.
The new system has tweaked background and text contrasts as well, to try and make it quicker to read on the move. Color changes, including white backgrounds, help separate things that are alerts or indicators from things you can select. Third-party apps get new color gradations to show you if they’re active or not.
For the driver, the Virtual Cockpit display has fewer icons and a structure Audi says is clearer. It also has new views, including the return of the navigation view with maps. Dropping that signature view was one of Audi’s stranger recent decisions.
And yes, physical controls are coming back. Like the e-tron, the gas A6 adds two scroll wheels on the steering wheel to replace haptic buttons. It’s still touch-heavy inside, but at least Audi is moving in the right direction.
2026 Audi A6 Pricing Comes With Good News And Bad News
The 2026 Audi A6 puts an emphasis on refinement, featuring a quieter cabin and cutting-edge technology.
A new dashcam is available. It’s built into the inside mirror, and delivers 4K HDR video of the road ahead. Audi says it works even in “challenging” light, and it can be started or stopped through the center screen. Users can also activate a loop that records 30 seconds before and after an incident either automatically or on command.

Front Passengers, Your Gamer Cave Is Ready
The new dashcam is available on Premium Plus and Premium grades. Audi has also expanded the availability of Bang & Olufsen front headrest speakers and the passenger side display to Premium Plus. Updates to the parking assistant can now reverse for 150 feet when backing into a space. It can also save five different parking maneuvers, up to 600 feet each, and then drive that distance by itself to park and unpark.
There are tiny but surprisingly useful tweaks, too. For example, the front passenger can now use their own Bluetooth headset for games or videos on their display, while the driver uses any source through the audio system. They can add controllers, too.
Audi A6, Q6 E-Tron Tech Upgrades Will Be Welcomed With Open Arms
We’re most excited about physical controls and a new sport mode.
The changes are surprisingly plentiful for a mid-year update that’s not a refresh, never mind an update on a recently launched model. The updated Audi A6 starts from $64,100, just like the prior version. Audi’s destination charge is $1,295, rasing the official MSRP to $65,395. The sedan will arrive with its mid-year changes sometime in the second quarter of the year.
