At least ten wagons of a freight train derailed near Mehrabpur in Sindh’s Naushahro Feroze district on Monday, disrupting railway operations on a key route.
According to railway police, the accident occurred at Deparja Phatak, where ten wagons went off the track and five overturned. The freight train was travelling from Karachi to Punjab at the time of the incident.
Railway authorities confirmed that both up and down tracks were affected, leading to the suspension of train movement in both directions. As a result, several passenger and freight trains have been halted at different stations.
A relief train has been dispatched from Rohri to carry out restoration work. Railway officials said track clearance operations could take between eight to ten hours to complete.
