Utah governor declares February as Tech Month

On Thursday, the governor’s office declared February 2026 as Tech Month in Utah during the morning session of Summit, where the announcement was made.

Utah’s technology industry is a cornerstone of the state’s economic prosperity, contributing more than $25 billion to the economy while growing 12 percent over the past five years, according to a news release from the Utah Governor’s Office of Economic Opportunity.

“I’ve had the opportunity to spend time with several different groups, and as I talk to them, the thing that resonates most is that we’re all a part of building Utah,” the office’s Executive Director, Jefferson Moss, said as he announced Tech Month at Summit. “We’re going to focus on how we can build together.”

“Utah is committed to a pro-human approach to innovation and fostering a connected tech economy where new companies can emerge and thrive,” reads the press release.

The release states that Gov. Spencer Cox and the Office of Economic Opportunity, in collaboration with industry partners, events such as Fintech XChange, Summit and Tech Week, and tech founders and businesses, are committed to:
