IISc Bengaluru will launch three new B.Tech programmes in 2026–27, with admissions through JoSAA using JEE Advanced ranks.
Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore will start three new Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) Programs in 2026-27.
The New B. Tech Programmes to be offered are in the branches (i) Materials Science and Engineering, (ii) Mechanics and Computing and (iii) Aerospace Engineering. This is in addition to the B.Tech. in Mathematics and Computing already being offered by the Institute.
Admission to all four B.Tech Programmes for 2026-27 will be through the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) allotments 2026.
For admission to Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) Programmes, applicants should satisfy the eligibility criteria, including performance in the Class 12 or equivalent examination, as prescribed in the JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority) Business Rules for admission to IITs applicable for the relevant academic year.
It is mandatory for the candidates to register and fill choices through the official JoSAA 2026 online portal for admission to B.Tech programs at IISc. No separate application is required to be submitted on the IISc admission portal for B.Tech admissions.
The related notice of IIT Rourkhee, the Organising Institute of JEE (Advanced) 2026, regarding inclusion of IISc Bengaluru in JoSAA 2026, and that Admission to the BTech programmes of IISc Bengaluru for the Academic Year 2026-27 shall be made through Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) 2026 using JEE (Advanced) 2026 ranks, is published at https://jeeadv.ac.in/.
IISc has also notified the admission to the Four-Year Bachelor of Science (Research) Programme at the Institute for the Academic Year 2026-27.
For admission to the B.S. (Research) Programme, applicants should have completed their 10+2 (or equivalent) examination in 2024 or 2025, or should be expecting to complete their 10+2 (or equivalent) examination in 2026.
Applicants must have studied Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as main subjects in their qualifying exam along with any other subjects and secured a first-class or 60% or equivalent grade (relaxed to pass class for SC/ST candidates) in the qualifying examination (10+2 or equivalent). The mark sheet submitted by the candidates for their Class XII (or equivalent) examination must be issued by a single examination Board.
Selection procedure: Selection of Indian Nationals / OCI (I) applicants shall be based on merit in any one of (i) JEE Advanced 2026, (ii) IISER Aptitude Test (IAT) 2026.
For Foreign National / OCI (F) applicants, admission shall be made through 2 modes, subject to the conditions specified for each. Mode 1 will be the SAT/ACT channel. Applicant should have an SAT (2025 or 2026) or ACT (2025 or 2026) score. Applicants shall be shortlisted based on SAT/ACT scores, and the final selection shall be made on the basis of performance in an interview. Mode 2 is based on the IAT / JEE (Advanced) score. Applicants should have a rank in the IISER Aptitude Test (IAT) 2026 or in the JEE (Advanced) 2026. For admission through IAT or JEE (Advanced), selection shall be based on the respective ranks obtained by the candidates.
The date of submission of applications for admission to the B.S. (Research) Programme will be notified later.
