Cecilia’s Braylon Calais named 2025 Courtesy Automotive Group Toughest Player of the Year

BREAUX BRIDGE, La. (NEWS 15) — The toughest high school football player in Acadiana was celebrated at Buck and Johnny’s in Breaux Bridge on Wednesday night. The event brought together star players from across the region to honor the best of the best.

Braylon Calais, a standout at Cecilia High, was named the Toughest Player of the Year. Calais, known for his versatility on the field, excelled as a quarterback, running back, wide receiver, defensive back, and special teams player. In addition to the accolade, Calais received a $1,000 scholarship from Courtesy Automotive Group to support his education.

“Just to be around that group of level of intensity, the level of driven people that just want to play the game at this level. It’s an unbelievable feeling,” Calais said.

Cecilia head coach Cody Champagne praised Calais for his dedication and character.

“Braylon is a great kid. He is special for a reason, because he does everything right – in the classroom and the field and in the weight room. It’s great that he gets this award,” he stated.
