Artificial Labs has closed a $45 million Series B funding round as the London-based insurtech prepares for rapid expansion across global markets. The investment will support the company’s plans to double its team size over the next 12 months while entering the US market in 2026.
CommerzVentures, a European fintech investor, led the round with participation from Move Capital Fund I. Existing backers Augmentum Fintech, 6 Degrees Capital, FOM, and TrueSight Ventures also joined the raise, signaling continued confidence in the company’s direction and technology approach.
Modernizing Specialty Insurance Operations
Artificial provides digital broking and underwriting technology designed specifically for specialty and commercial insurance markets. The platform addresses long-standing inefficiencies in how brokers and carriers manage complex placement workflows and capacity deployment.
“This round gives us the room to grow with confidence,” said David King, Co-Founder of Artificial. “The investment allows us to scale in a way that keeps pace with our clients. We have the teams, the technology, and the stability to support the largest brokers and carriers as they modernise how they operate.”
The specialty insurance sector has historically relied on manual processes and fragmented systems. Artificial’s platform digitizes these workflows while capturing institutional knowledge, enabling more efficient risk placement and underwriting decisions.
Expansion Plans and Market Strategy
The fresh capital will fund several strategic priorities over the coming year. Artificial plans to significantly expand its engineering and client-facing teams to support growing demand from brokers, carriers, and managing general agents (MGAs).
Geographic expansion represents another major focus. The company will establish operations in the United States in 2026 while deepening its presence in the London Market, where it already works with some of the sector’s largest players.
“We have built a platform that solves real problems for insurance,” said Johnny Bridges, Co-Founder of Artificial. “With this investment, we will grow our team, continue to innovate, and ensure that Artificial remains the natural choice for brokers and carriers seeking a smarter way to trade digitally.”
Building Technology for Complex Insurance Markets
Founded in London, Artificial combines insurance market expertise with advanced engineering capabilities. The company was established by professionals who understand the specific challenges facing specialty risk placement operations.
The platform integrates with existing insurance systems rather than requiring wholesale replacement of legacy infrastructure. This approach has helped Artificial build partnerships with major brokers and carriers who need to modernize operations without disrupting current workflows.
Artificial’s technology captures data from placement activities and applies it to improve capacity management and underwriting decisions. The platform aims to help insurance professionals handle emerging risk categories more effectively while improving operational efficiency across the value chain.
Investor Perspective on Market Opportunity
The lead investors see significant potential in Artificial’s approach to a traditionally underserved technology market. Insurance remains one of the less digitized sectors in financial services, particularly at the specialty and commercial levels.
“We are thrilled to support Artificial as they extend their leadership globally,” said Heiko Schwender, Managing Partner at CommerzVentures. “We have been backing next-generation technology businesses for more than a decade. Artificial’s platform addresses a real, structural problem that has constrained efficiency in commercial and specialty insurance for decades. The team’s combination of deep insurance domain expertise and world class engineering is rare, and it uniquely positions them to redefine this market.”
Move Capital Fund I emphasized the company’s ability to translate industry knowledge into scalable technology solutions. “Artificial benefits from a rare blend of deep insurance expertise, strong client relationships and highly innovative technology,” said Hervé Malausséna, Founding Partner at Move Capital Fund I. “The company is ideally positioned to address bottleneck challenges for specialty risk placement players globally, which reflects Move Capital’s conviction in platforms that turn domain expertise into scalable, data-driven operational execution.”
The funding round positions Artificial to capitalize on increasing demand for digital transformation tools in specialty insurance as brokers and carriers seek more efficient ways to manage complex risks and capacity allocation.
