No. 12 Mount Olive bests Westfield, Midd. South, Passaic Tech in quad – Wrestling recap

Mount Olive, No. 12 in the NJ.com Top 20, defeated Middletown South, Westfield and Passaic Tech to go 3-0 at a quad hosted by Westfield.

The Marauders (12-2) have now won 12 matches in a row since suffering season-opening losses to Pope John and Southern.

Mount Olive recorded eight bonus point wins in a 50-23 win over the Bulldogs (11-10).

Jared Martini (285), Nico Gonzalez (215), Justin Bullock (165), Scott Coppolo (157), Colin Smyth (150), Jack Bacigalupo (113) and Cole Rebels (120) won by pin while Stephen Hayek recorded a 17-2 tech fall win at 175 over Muntaser Atiyeh.

Anthony Piemonte outlasted Rayan Mohammad for a 7-1 decision win at 132.

Hector Rodriguez (190) and Malik Abuharthieh (138) won by pin for Passaic Tech while Nicholas Nguyen teched Jack Rawa 20-3 at 106.

At 126, Muhammad Abuhadba recorded a 7-4 decision win over Kristian Beres and Mohammad Rabah won a 3-0 decision over Thomas McDonald at 144.

The Marauders took a 71-11 win over the Blue Devils.

Bacigalupo, Beres, Piemonte, McDonald, Coppolo, and Bullock won by pin while Rebels took a 17-0 tech fall win over Cooper Stanek. Cole Vogt (190), Mason Kilka (285) and Michael Antonello (215) won by forfeit.

Max Berardi gave Westfield six points with a pin at 106 while Luke Sluberski recorded a 22-6 tech fall at 138 over Nahki Hernandez.

Mount Olive rolled to a 46-21 win over Middletown South.

Martini, Gonzalez, Bacigalupo, and Smyth won via pin. Bullock took a 15-0 tech over John McCormack, Coppolo recorded a 10-2 major decision win over Matthew Caccamo and Piemonte teched John Pratt 18-3. Beres defeated John Murphy via 16-0 tech and Rebels outlasted Peter Trezza for a 4-1 sudden victory win.

Michael Fielding (106) recorded a pin for Midd. South (15-4). Ryan Roano edged out a 1-0 decision over Hernandez, Tyler Alweiss took a 14-7 decision over McDonald and Max Alweiss recorded a 4-2 decision over Hayek.

Midd. South went 2-1 on the day, defeating Passaic Tech 44-21 and topping Westfield 64-8.
