Ghana’s dancehall heavyweight and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Shaxi, Charles Nii Armah Mensah – recognised in the showbiz industry as Shatta Wale, is switching lanes; and this time it is not music.
The self-styled dancehall king has officially entered into the technology space with the launch of HOTWAV Ghana – a smartphone distribution venture that aims to serve the country and the entire West Africa.
On the January 19, 2025, the musician announced on his Facebook page that he is both a part owner and a brand partner.
He highlighted in his announcement that: “The deal is more than an endorsement. This is ownership, structure and a long-term vision.”
Not just phone but lifestyle devices
The Shaxi CEO said that HOTWAV will debut with the SM Series – a line of smartphones built for real-life movement. According to him, the current series were created with every Ghanaian in mind.
It is designed to handle both the hustle of the streets and the demand for professional life – performance-driven and premium built.
This move is timely as smartphones are no longer considered luxury but essential. It empowers businesses, connects people and eases mobile payments. Therefore, combining a global tech brand with a strong influence, HOTWAV can bet on trust, relevance and familiarity to win on the market.
Early birds get the deal
Pre-orders officially started on the January 26, 2026 and customers who place orders before February 2, 2026 will enjoy 5 percent discount plus free AirPods.
Final pre-order ends on the February 12, 2026, with commitment deposits set at GH¢200 for the A17 Pro Max and GH¢500 for the Cyber 16 SM Series.
The dancehall king also noted that there will be no freebies once the pre-order window closes.
For easy access, HOTWAV Ghana has rolled out authorised partner stores across major commercial centres, including Accra Central, Circle, Tema, Madina, Odorkor, Santa Maria, East Legon, Kasoa, Mankesim, Bolgatanga, Somanya, Kumasi, Akosombo, etc. and online availability via Jumia and the brand’s official website.
Key build features for HOTWAV A17 Pro Max
Being sold for GH¢1500, the HOTWAV Pro Max is built around the ARS8662 chipset, using ARM 22-nanometer technology to deliver efficient and stable performance. It also features a multi-core CPU, combining six Cortex-A55 cores at 1.5GHz with two Cortex-A76 cores at 1.7GHz, designed to balance speed and power efficiency.
Graphics are also handled by an IMG Power VR GE8320 GPU to support smooth visuals and media use.
The device runs on Android 15 and supports H.264 video encoding with 1080p video decoding at 30fps, which ensures reliable high-definition playback and everyday multitasking.
HOTWAV Cyber 16 Pro
This smartphone also blends power, style and durability. It has a triple camera system – 108MP, 32MP and 24MP, with a dual touch screen to enable effortless multitasking.
It is also thin (12mm), lightweight at 300g, and has a 6.6-inch 2k display that brings every detail to life.
The G100 processor has a 24GB RAM, and 512GB storage which ensures smooth performance.
The Cyber 16 pro is GH¢3,300. It is waterproof, dustproof and drop-resistance.
