Big Tech Companies Are Profiting Off Nonconsensual AI-Created Porn

“Everyone is subject to being objectified or pornographied by everyone else,” said University of California, Irvine law professor Ari Ezra Waldman to a 2024 House committee hearing on deepfakes. AI image creation technology is now able to take your head and put it on someone else’s body, or create a reasonable facsimile of your image based on a picture, and this has led to the creation of an avalanche of AI deepfake apps specifically designed to sexually harass women and put them in nonconsensual deepfake porn. In September, CNBC published a report on a group of women in Minnesota who were victimized by pornographic deepfakes of them, sending them on a horrifying journey to try to get these fake but very realistic looking images of themselves in various sexual positions off the internet.

“He did not break any laws that we’re aware of,” Molly Kelley said to CNBC, referring to her friend’s estranged ex-husband who created these nonconsensual pornographic images of them using an AI tool. “And that is problematic.” CNBC interviewed experts who said “that many apps that have nudify services advertise on Facebook and are available to download from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.” This week, the Tech Transparency Project (TTP) published an exposé building on what researchers told CNBC, titled “Nudify Apps Widely Available in Apple and Google App Stores.”

Elon Musk’s Grok chatbot is perhaps the most shameless nudify app, even admitting to producing Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) when it acquiesced to a user’s request to undress an underage girl. Congressional Democrats subsequently called on Apple and Google to pressure Musk, because the nonconsensual porn Grok creates is a feature of Musk’s LLM, not a bug, and it is a violation of both Apple and Google’s terms of services. But TPP found that Grok is far from the only nonconsensual porn creation app available for almost anyone to download from Google and Apple.

“Google and Apple asked for the list of apps identified in this investigation, which TTP provided,” reported the Tech Transparency Project. “Both companies declined to comment, but Apple told CNBC, which covered this report, that it had removed 28 apps identified by TTP and warned developers of other apps they risked removal if they did not address violations. (TTP counted 27 app removals.)” TPP reports that Google removed 31 apps as a result of their reporting.

This is a classic pattern among the giants in Silicon Valley. Meta built a chatbot that preyed on children, and they only backtracked on it when Reuters asked them about it last year. These tech companies will push the envelope as far as they can and call it progress, then when they get caught being a bad actor, only then will they claim to follow their stated ideals of not being evil. These companies are inflicting great harm on women across the world in their sadistic rush to grab every last cent from AI in this depraved effort to force it into every crevice of our lives. It’s very important to point out that prior to Google and Apple removing those apps, Google and Apple were making money off nonconsensual porn apps through their app store fees (the apps identified by TPP generated $117 million in revenue, which Google and Apple got a cut of).

And not just these two giants, but Zuckerberg’s fraudulent empire too, as CNBC’s investigation in September found that, “the researchers said the ‘nudification platforms have gone fully mainstream’ and are ‘advertised on Instagram and hosted in app stores.’” 404 Media reported in April 2024 that “Instagram is profiting from several ads that invite people to create nonconsensual nude images with AI generation apps,” and despite Meta’s insistence they were working to right this wrong, subsequent investigations in 2025 and 2026 found they had not accomplished what they claimed they set out to do.

Apple and Google declined to comment to TPP, but surely once they circle the wagons, they will do what these companies typically do and claim ignorance of what they were selling and potentially still are—as if that is an acceptable explanation for the second and third-largest companies in the world making it easier for stunted and broken men to sexually abuse women. “DreamFace’s terms of service prohibit use of the app to generate content that is offensive, sexually explicit, indecent, or ‘likely to harass, upset, alarm, [or] inconvenience any person,’” reports TPP. “But TTP encountered no resistance when generating its test image, showing how easy it would be for a user to nudify a photo of a real person.”

Google rated DreamFace as suitable for ages 13 and up, while Apple said that 9-year-olds could use it, and this is not the only app like this that both companies rated as suitable for children. Either Google and Apple are explicitly willing to join apartheid South Africa’s preeminent ketamine enthusiast to make CSAM creation a part of their business, or they don’t care enough to invest in any real oversight to prevent that from happening. There is no world where two companies with a combined market cap of nearly eight trillion dollars can feign any kind of reasonable ignorance on this. The best thing they can say for themselves is this is criminally lax negligence. Apple made it easy for 10-year-olds to create nonconsensual porn of their classmates, and they can’t even muster up the courage to comment on the record saying that was a mistake. None of these tech companies are treating this issue of AI deepfakes with the seriousness the situation deserves, and the broader muted silence to Grok admitting it created CSAM while people continued to use the MechaHitler site in its wake has been a depressing commentary on where society’s red lines reside. Clearly behind mass-produced nonconsensual porn, even of children.

This is another example of how women are made to be disposable in order to feed the insatiable hunger of capitalism. It’s not hard to imagine how differently this issue would be treated if AI deepfake apps were being used to create images and videos en masse of heterosexual men engaging in homosexual acts with one another. This is a genuine crisis, and the tech companies are treating serious oversight of it as an afterthought, at best. They are waiting for far less resourced journalists at CNBC and TPP do their jobs for them, then doing a smol bean routine of how could three companies who helped build the greatest surveillance apparatus in human history possibly know that they were advertising CSAM generators to children.

Fuck these big tech companies forever. Whenever this era of Trump-driven depravity finally collapses, we cannot forget how they chose barbarism over civil society, lest we let them achieve their barbarous goals for the devolution of society when we try to rebuild it out the rubble. Google ridding themselves of their “don’t be evil” slogan was a tacit admission of where their priorities truly lie, and the ease of which they allow every broken man to sexually abuse any woman whose picture they can get their grubby little hands on is a statement of these companies’ real values. They have anointed LLMs as their god, and have made it clear to the rest of us that if this technology has to run roughshod over civil society and ruin women’s lives in order to justify these companies’ drastically overvalued market caps, they will not hesitate to look the other way as they take a cut from a wave of nonconsensual porn creation apps until a reporter asks them about it. Don’t ever forget who these companies told you they are over the last few years.
